Manila, May 28 2013 – Lafarge Republic Inc. (LRI) reported during its Annual General Stockholders meeting that its consolidated 2012 sales revenue amounted to Php 19.9 Billion, a 15% increase over the previous year. LRI cited innovative sales and marketing campaigns as major contributors to the growth which was achieved despite of one-off reliability issues with key equipment during the first half of the year.

CEMEX earmarks P2.5B to expand Naga plant

CEBU CITY— Anticipating an increase in demand for cement in the country, CEMEX Philippines is embarking on a P2.5-billion expansion of Apo Cement Corporation’s  facility in the city of Naga, Cebu.

Normandy Chan, Apo plant director, said the expansion plan would increase the Naga plant’s production capacity by 1.5 million metric tons to 4 million MT yearly.

CEMEX to expand Naga plant production

Cement manufacturer CEMEX Philippines is allotting P2.5 billion for the expansion of its Naga plant and increase in production capacity from 2.5 million metric tons (MT) to four million MT per year. 

The investment, which covers the construction of the vertical mill, is reported to bring in an additional 1.5 million MT per year. Its construction is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2014.

CEMEX invests P2.5 billion to hike output

NAGA CITY, CEBU— Consistent with its thrust of placing assets in areas with opportunities for growth, cement manufacturer CEMEX Philippines is investing P2.5 billion to increase production of its Apo cement plant in Cebu to meet the growing demand nationwide.

Normandy Chan, plant director, said on Wednesday the new investment is expected to boost current cement-making capacity of 2.5 million metric tons (MMT) annually by another 1.5 MMT per year.

Strong private construction sustains Holcim volume growth

First half domestic sales volumes of leading cement manufacturer Holcim Philippines, Inc. rose by 16% year-on-year driven by construction projects led by the private sector. Total market growth was estimated at 14%, as the real estate sector continued to roll out various projects in anticipation of strong economic growth.

The company expects a positive full-year forecast, although it maintained that while the first half is a period of high demand, the second half is traditionally slower with the onset of the rainy season. Political and economic developments in the next few months will also be critical as this will influence the market’s ability to sustain performance.
