Facility to process municipal waste into alternative fuel launched in Payatas Project to contribute to waste management efforts of Quezon City

Manila, April 22, 2013 – To support the waste management efforts of Quezon City, a waste-processing facility has been officially launched in Payatas by Mundo Verde Corporation (MVC) in partnership with the Quezon City local government. The facility will help reduce the volume of waste in the Payatas landfill while at the same time produce Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF), an alternative fuel that can be used in the cement-making process.

Cement plant’s quarry sites forested

CEBU CITY, Cebu (PNA) – Old limestone and pozzolan quarry sites within the country’s second oldest cement plant in Naga City, southern Cebu, have been rehabilitated and converted into pockets of forested areas.

More than five hectares of mined-out areas in Sitio Sindulan, Barangay Tinaan, Naga City within the 192-hectare property of the Apo Cement Plant have been converted into small forest areas, said the cement plant’s environment, health and safety engineer, Jenevy Patalinjug.
