CEMEX supports Brigada Eskwela

In their show of support to Cepoc Central School in the City of Naga, Cebu, close to a hundred personnel of the Apocemco CEMEX Philippines recently joined hands with the parents, teachers, and students for the annual Brigada Eskwela program of the Department of Education (DepEd).

They cleaned up the school premises, repaired broken tables and chairs, rebuilt the perimeter fence, replaced fixtures and cemented pathways, as well as repainted steel fences, classrooms, tables, and chairs.

School Principal Myra Tañola in Barangay Tina-an, City of Naga and Dr. Senen Paulin, city schools division superintendent, thanked CEMEX and the stakeholders present for their efforts in preparing the school for the first day of classes last Monday.

Paulin said it is a task set before the students, teachers, and parents “to sustain and maintain what has been beautifully started by CEMEX.”

Cepoc, which has 862 students, has long been benefitting from the services of CEMEX, being the firm’s adopted school.

Tañola said CEMEX sponsors the yearly field trip for the grade six students. It also maintained their cemented pathways, built their school gates, perimeter fences, and equipped their computer laboratory.

Present during the clean-up operation and kick-off ceremony were NormandyChan, APO Cement plant manager; Engr. Ariel Lazarte, APO Cement community relations officer; Chito Maniago, CEMEX director for corporate communications and public affairs; Erlinda Lizardo, CEMEX corporate communications manager; Jens Lund, CEMEX technical director; Danilo Antonio, APO Cement human resources manager; Gerodene Cabucos, Cepoc Central School PTA president; and the Tina-an barangay officials.
