(Manila Bulletin, H-4, February 9, 2005)

Holcim Philippines, a subsidiary of global cement company, launched its brand name after finally taking over the Union cement plant in Davao City.

The new Holcim Philippines management claims that it is committed to quality cement production and environment protection.

In his speech at the launching program at the Davao Convention center, Holcim Philippines president Paul O’ Callaghan stressed that “the commitment is to consistent performance and to consistent product quality, to consumer service, to the environment, the communities where we operate and to our people and to our stakeholders.”

He said that Holcim “by being part of a global network together with our strong local presence, we commit to perform to global standards while at the same time recognizing our position in the local and national community.”

He revealed that Holcim Philippines now operates four state-of-art cement manufacturing facilities in key areas around the country –saying that these cement plants in La Union, Bulacan, Lugait and now in Davao—have an annual total capacity of over 8 million tons.
