FINENESS BY BLAINE APPARATUS
The Blaine-air permeability apparatus used in ASTM C204 Standard Test Methods for Fineness of Hydraulic Cement allows to draw a definite quantity of air through a prepared bed of cement of definite porosity. The method works well for Portland cements, but relative rather than absolute fineness values are determined for various other materials.
