BALI, INDONESIA, October 16, 2026 — The Philippines has assumed the leadership of the ASEAN Federation of Cement Manufacturers (AFCM) for 2026–2028, positioning the country to help steer the region’s cement industry toward a more sustainable, competitive, and low-carbon future. The leadership transition was one of the highlights of the successful 47th AFCM Council Meeting and 23rd Conference, held October 14–16 in Bali, Indonesia, where member countries elected a new leadership team and reaffirmed their commitment to regional cooperation.
Mr. John Reinier Dizon, President of the Cement Manufacturers Association of the Philippines (CeMAP) and President of Republic Cement, was elected AFCM President.
Mr. Roberto Martin Gerardo Javier, Commercial Vice President of Concreate Holdings Philippines, was elected Secretary General, while Mr. Renato Baja, Executive Director of CeMAP, was elected Deputy Secretary General.
The turnover of the presidency from Indonesia to the Philippines marks a significant milestone for the country’s cement industry, strengthening its role in shaping regional priorities and fostering collaboration among AFCM’s eight member countries: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
In outlining his leadership philosophy, Mr. Dizon emphasized the importance of stewardship, saying, “We are only caretakers of the industry. Our responsibility is to leave it better than we found it.”
Under the Philippines’ leadership, AFCM will advance its shared agenda on decarbonization, low-carbon cement, alternative fuels, energy-efficient technologies, and business development under its Standing Committees (TC-BD). These priorities are aimed at accelerating the industry’s sustainability transition while strengthening its long-term competitiveness and resilience across ASEAN.
With the Philippines at the helm for the next two years, AFCM is poised to build on this cooperation and drive progress toward a more sustainable future for the region’s cement industry.
